IFB: What I learned

As all my twitter followers know (sorry for the #ifbcon outbursts!), I was at the IFB conference yesterday.  It was sublime.  I hope some of you watched the live post, but if not, take a little peak at my experience below and read about what I learned.

Sonia from In Pursuit of Style, Carrie from Random Sweetness, and Me
Nike From The Style Circuit, Jessica from Bows & Sequins, and Sonia
In front of the Magnum Lounge...
Magnum Ice Cream Bars. YUM.

Katy from Sugar Laws, Taylor from IFB, and Sonia
 1. First and foremost, bloggers are awesome.  Yes yes, we all know this already. I have been lucky enough to establish a strong group of NYC blogger friends, but I didn't know if everyone was as great because of the scary blogger urban legends out there.  Everyone I met yesterday was friendly, warm, and hilarious!  What really inspired me is that there was such a large number of entreneurial women, dressed to the nines, and excited to learn, grow, and connect with others.

Aldo Shoe Display.
Jennine Jacob from The Coveted
Sammy Davis from Sammy Davis Vintage
Coco Rocha. Yes, I'll take her cheekbones.
Aimee Song from Song of Style
The Fabulous Mr. Mickey of Paper Mag
The captivating Mr. Joe Zee

2. I'm on the right track. From all of the panels about social media, blogging futures, and ethical business practices, I realized that I've already begun doing the things they suggested.  I'm networking with other bloggers (yay!), creating a media kit (now finished), and trying to find and expand my voice on the blog.  I don't mean to say that I know everything, because I definitely don't.  I just found that blogging doesn't have a straight and narrow path, and even Jennine from The Coveted mentioned this.  There are certain things you can do to better your blog and  your marketability, but it can all be done in your own way.  It's all about being yourself and showcasing that to your readers, because at the end of the day, there's only one of you!

Simon from KMS California
My final sassy do. Loved it.
Jessica and I.
Nike and I.
3. Blogging is what I want to do.  This is certain for now. I want to be a blogger when I grow up!  Although IFBcon was long and completely drained me and the iPhone, I love being in the blogging environment.  I love expressing myself and my passions.  Having my readers also enjoy my posts, silly jokes, and photos really makes my day.  I hope one day that it can become my single focus, but until then, I'm going to love what I have going!

  11. I so wanted to be there, and to see what else I could be doing to expand my blog. I would've been a bit intimidated because, everyone wants to be a blogger, and it seems like so many of us are fighting for it. In the end though, it worth a fight.
