A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes

For the longest while, I have been a huge fan of Simon Doonan.  He was actually my inspiration when I was doing visual merchandising at Saks Fifth Avenue.  It all started with Confessions of a Window Dresser.  Then, Nasty, Beautiful People, Eccentric Glamour, and Wacky Chicks happened.  If he weren't involved with Mr. Jonathan Adler, I think boyfriend might be worried.  And then I found out about Gay Men Don't Get Fat. Better yet, there would be a book signing, with Mr. Doonan himself.  Yes, please.  My  heart jumped and I knew I had to RSVP as soon as my little fingers could make the telephone call.  A week later, I met him. And he signed his book, with a giant heart.  I think he knew.

PS-The book is amazing.  You have to buy it. Or else.

One of Each Please!

Last night, I had the pleasure of getting a special tour of Rafaello & Co.  This is no ordinary jewelry store.  Their headline is "Dare to be Different," and for a reason.  Each piece was more intricate and luxurious than the next.  With clients such as Amare Stoudemire, the royal family of Dubai, and Cee Lo Green, I think you get a grasp on how special each piece is made to be.

I was never a fan of canary diamonds until I met these babies.
These were over  4" in diameter.  Vintage, giant, and incredible!
My favorite of the entire store. If anyone would like to spare me $250,000, that would be great!
The construction on this alone was unbelievable.  I would totally wear a jaguar on my wrist daily.

A personal favorite.
The newest watch in the collection.

These cufflinks are holding 10 carats of canary diamonds.

I would like to give a big thank you to Rafaello & Co again for inviting me to live out a lifelong dream of playing with as many diamonds as I wanted.  If anyone is in the New York area, you should definitely take a visit.  You can find them at 47th Street between 5th and 6th.  While they have a grasp on the luxury, custom, and high-end market, they have very reasonable prices on engagement rings and bands, especially for the quality of the pieces.  If you cannot visit, you can window shop on their site here!

Ramen Remix

Last week I was invited to share in the release of Genji's new ramen bar at Whole Foods.  I chose to try the shrimp and scallop version and was not disappointed.  (They also have calamari and vegetable.)  What you get is freshly prepared, not the typical pre-packaged ramen dish.

Having a Chinese fiance (yes, I finally said fiance and not boyfriend), I eat lots of noodles and authentic cuisine.  I was really impressed with this dish because it didn't have the typical American Chinese taste to it.  I partly think it's because of the chili miso base, which is nice and spicy like I prefer.  The best part?  It's $5.49!  Fresh food, good portion, and great price!  I'm sounding a little like an infomercial, but trust me, it's delish!

Try it at Whole Foods at 95 E. Houston, right by the 2nd Avenue F train stop.  You'll be happy you did!

I Love Your Hair!

On Thursday, I attended the "I Love Your Hair" App Party at the Hair Rules Salon in Hell's Kitchen.  It was also sponsored by House of Mikko. We got to see a live hair demonstration by Dickey, the infamous celebrity hairdresser, and enjoy Baked by Melissa cupcakes and Qream liquor. By the way, if you haven't tried Qream yet, do so!  Tineey recommends the peach flavour with muddled peaches and coconut water for the ultimate drink!

Above are Tineey and Kelly from Masque Mag, which I haven't seen in far too long!  The party was so much fun and I met a lot of new friends; one that I work with that I didn't even know!  Thank you again, Hair Rules and House of Mikko, for the invite and I can't wait to test my new Hair Rules shampoo and conditioner!

Misela Preview

On Tuesday night, I went to see the Misela Spring/Summer 2012 handbag preview.  Beforehand I had done some research and was extremely excited about seeing the exotic bags!  See for yourself!

What did I tell you? GORGEOUS.

I would like one of each please (especially the pink snake!).

Detail shot. I loved all of the textures. Each bag was inspired by the designer's life in Istanbul.  You can definitely see the architectural similarities in the pattern above.

I think I'm seriously falling in love with chevrons.  Will it be the new polka dot for next season? I'm calling it now!
