Today while on my never-ending blog crawl, I came upon Sometimes Sweet. She has the cutest little baby, features Tattoo Tuesday, and has a great positive energy! One of her frequent posts is Journal Day. The premise is to continue the fun times when we all used to write in our daily journals, for school or for our own personal reasons. She explains it much, much better here. Her prompt today really caught my attention. As it is less than a weekend until my 25th birthday (which I'm sure everyone is sick of hearing but it's only once a year!), I feel that it is kind of monumental. I'll be a quarter of a century!
Twenty-five was always a landmark age for me. I thought I would be an adult officially and I hoped to be married with at least one child. Granted, that was my 15-year old self thinking but still. I am very, very happy to have landed where I am right now. So here goes my journal entry for the day.
The older we get, the more certain we get about who we are and what our purpose is. For me, a lot of it is still unknown, but as I make my way down my own path, I have begun to realize that there are indeed some inevitable truths that I know for sure.
So what do I know? I know that sometimes we have to go through the bad to get to the good. I know that a positive outlook can change everything. I know that sulking, worrying, or being angry isn't going to help. I know that a stranger's smile (especially a baby's!) can transform a bad day. I know that those that care will stick around and just be there. And thankfully, from this past year, I know that love really does exist. Most of all, I know that I will never know it all and I need to keep a balanced head on these shoulders and not get "too big for my britches" (as my Grandma says).
I love you. That is all.
